Lumbarda is a small tourist village, located on the east coast of the island of Korčula. It is located on the slopes of nearby hills and streches along the coast with lots of small bays.
Lumbarda is surrounded by pine forests , olive trees and large vineyards of the famous wine «Grk».
A wellspreaded coast attracts with its picturesque coves and sandy beaches. In front of Lumbarda you can see twenty small islands which are surrounded with blue sea.
Residents of Lumbarda are traditionally engaged in viticulture, fishing and stone-masonry.
First records of the settlement date from IV century B.C.. There are numerous archaeological finds, among them there is the «Lumbardska psefizma» as the most important one.
Many famous artists, painters and sculptors come from Lumbarda.
People from Lumbarda are very hospitable hosts.The home atmosphere along with kindness, sun and sea makes Lumbarda an oasis of peace . The beautiful and peaceful environment provides you a «once in a life time» experience with a taste of Mediterranean aromas of herbs and sea.
At dawn, when everything is quiet and the slight breeze brings the smell of the Mediterranean Sea and pine, you can watch the fishermen returning from the fishing.
You can start the day having your morning coffee in one of the local cafes or visit the fish and local market to feel the atmosphere of a small Dalmatian place.
You can walk by the seacoast a small walkway`s to a sandy beach «Bili žal» listening to the sound of the waves.
You can ride a bicycle , jogg, or rent a boat to sail on a trip to nearby islands. The mild climate, large number of sunny days, and variety of wind leaves you with the possibility of practicing various sports. There is something for everbody:
Large selection of restaurants and rural tavern will offer you all the specialties of Dalmatia, as well as traditional local dishes.
Shellfish, fish, crabs, cheese and meat prepare in a hundred ways with the national dish of spice plants and salad will be complemented by wine Grk, Plavac as well as other Croatian wine and domestic Croatian pastries.
In the end, as a source of spiritual nourishment Lumbarda has a few smaller churches and a parish church Saint Roko.
